In today’s (chronological) Bible reading… 1Kings 3,4; 2Chronicles 1; Psalm 72… we see the beginning of Solomon’s reign.
Solomon was told by God he could have whatever he wished for (assuming, I think, it was in God’s will). It seems he could have had anything he wanted – wealth, health, success. He chose wisdom; he wanted the ability to know the difference between bad and good, between good and best. And God was pleased with his choice.
In fact, God was so pleased with Solomon’s choice, God also threw in health and wealth. The incredible success Solomon had was due to his wisdom. He made good choices, and those choices paid off for Solomon… and also those he was king of.
The fact that Solomon asked for wisdom is proof he already had quite a bit!
If you could have any super power, what would you choose? Super-strength? The ability to fly? Super-speed? The ability to stretch your body?
It would be hard to beat wisdom. And, wisdom can be yours! James 1:5 says, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God… and it will be given to him.”
