In today’s (chronological) Bible reading… 1Kings 9; 2Chronicles 8; Proverbs 25,26… we see the events following the building of the temple.

David was known for his battles; Solomon was known for his buildings.  It was a time of peace for Israel, so the opportunities and resources for advancement were readily available.

Solomon – like his father, David – would do things God was not pleased with.  The economy and fame of the nation were growing… but, the people were not growing in faithfulness.

And, that was the part that really mattered.

I think it’s obvious to any open, honest observer that America is following the same path….

Are you more concerned about your character… or your reputation?  Character intends to please God; Reputation seeks to please man.
