In today’s (chronological) Bible reading… Ezekiel 41-44… we see a description of perfect worship in a perfect temple.
The city of Jerusalem and the temple had been destroyed. The land had been taken over by the Babylonians. The people had been scattered or exiled. Times were tough. But, Ezekiel did what God’s people must always do when times are tough; he looked to God and he looked ahead. God had promised that one day the scattered people would be regathered… and a polluted people would be made clean. The land would be restored to beauty and fruitfulness. There would be a new city, a new temple, and a new priesthood.
Today, the bodies of believers are God’s temple, as is His church. Just as God has a beautiful plan for His future temple in Jerusalem, He has a plan for each individual believer, and His church as a group.
