In today’s (chronological) Bible reading… Zechariah 1-7… we are introduced to the prophet, Zechariah. He was a prophet who encouraged God’s people to do God’s work.
The prophet Zechariah ministered with Haggai as they encouraged the Jewish remnant to rebuild the temple. In our text today, Zechariah shared 8 visions concerning Jerusalem and the Jews. Zechariah also shares the importance of fasting.
Zechariah’s focus is on Jerusalem… which he mentions 40 times in his book! God’s city seemed to have been forsaken, but God remembered His people and kept His promises. For God’s people, the best was – and is – to come.
Haggai & Zechariah worked together, but their ministries were unique. Haggai wrote 2 short visions; Zechariah wrote 8 longer ones. Haggai focused on the present work of the people; Zechariah encouraged them to look ahead. They were different, but both were greatly used by God.
Your gifts are different from mine. Thank God! And God can use you to do what only you can do!!
