In today’s (chronological) Bible reading… Galatians 4-6… we read how Paul closes out his letter to the Christians in the area of Galatia. He compares the True Gospel to the false teachings of false teachers.
Paul taught grace… but there were those who were teaching some pseudo-mix of grace and law, trying to combine Judaism & Christianity in some odd way.
Why would anyone choose works over faith? Because works can be measured… quantified; faith is internal and cannot be measured. Works in our own hands; faith is in God’s hands. Works relies on something we can do; faith depends on what Jesus has already done for us on the cross.
When given the choice between “do” and “done”… choose “done” every time!
