In today’s (chronological) Bible reading… Acts 20:1-3; Romans 1-4… we begin to read what may be the most theologically cram-packed book of the Bible!
Imagine there are 2 paths… and 2 choices.
On 1 path… we can try to meet the standard on our own. We can try to be good enough to please God. We can study all the lists of laws and try to keep every one of them, every day of every week of every month of every year of our lives – from birth until death, and never make a single intentional mistake, not even in our thoughts. It might be like being able to jump higher than most other people – maybe ALL other people, but if the standard is jumping to the moon there’s no way to reach it. It would be like someone who has to use a walker trying to win the 100-yard dash in the Olympics; it would never happen.
On the other path, we find Jesus. Jesus is the One who has already pleased God; He has already done everything necessary for us. All we have to do is take His path. By His death, Jesus took our place.
Every person who has ever drawn breath has made the choice between these 2 paths.
Which path have you chosen? The “DO” path… or the “DONE” path?
Faith takes the “DONE” path… receiving the gift of salvation, freely offered by God.
