IN HIS TIME                                                                                        written in 1978

The Story

As camp director of a conference center in northern California, and a mother of 4 children ages 10-14, Diane Ball worked on a schedule. She tried to plan everything in her life to the minute, including family vacations.

On one occasion, the family was scheduled to leave at 10AM, because she had a speaking engagement (just before a vacation started) at noon. But her husband, who was the maintenance man for the conference grounds, had a last-minute emergency, so he wasn’t ready to go until 11AM.

Diane later said she was furious. She fretted and stewed, and then finally asked God to give her some peace. Suddenly she heard the words “In His time”. She repeated those words over and over, and then heard more words: “He makes all things beautiful – in His time”. See Ecclesiastes 3:11.

When she finally arrived for her speaking engagement… late, she had written this song. Not only that, but because of some unexpected problems, the luncheon she was to speak at had also been delayed. Diane and her family had arrived just in time… in His time.

The Song

            Read this chorus, and – today – trust God’s timing for that situation that’s troubling you.

In His time, in His time,
He makes all things beautiful in His time.
Lord, please show me every day,
as You’re teaching me Your way,
that You do just what You say, in Your time.

In Your time, in Your time,
You make all things beautiful in Your time.
Lord, my life to You I bring;
may each song I have to sing
be to You a lovely thing, in Your time.
