I’m reading a book entitled, A Field Guide for Everyday Mission, written by Ben Connelly & Bob Roberts. It has caused me to think more about my discipleship…
Disciples are intended to reproduce. Christianity is an outward-focused faith.
If we were to look at the creation account in Genesis, God designed every healthy, living organism to multiply: “plants… trees… winged birds… livestock and creeping things and beasts of the earth… (and) man” all “bear fruit…. according to its kind“. Healthy trees make healthy trees. Healthy armadillos make healthy armadillos. Healthy humans make healthy humans. Healthy Christians make healthy Christians.
God intended His church to be a living organism: multiplication and reproduction are intended to be a part of church life. If we’re not reproducing, we aren’t healthy Christians.
