This song was written and recorded by Cheri Keaggy… included on her album, My Faith Will Stay.

Cheri Keaggy (born Cheri Louise Anderson; August 29, 1968) is a gospel singer and songwriter, with a musical style of Contemporary Christian music. She was previously married to her high school sweetheart, Eddie Keaggy, the nephew of the CCM pioneer artist, Phil Keaggy.
She was discovered by Charlie Peacock when Eddie, a sound engineer, did a concert for him. Peacock produced her first two albums.

I first heard Cheri Keaggy while pastoring Lake City First Baptist Church in Lake City, Arkansas. Her lyrics are very thought-provoking, and she is certainly easy to listen to. This song was often sung accompanying Lord’s Supper Services.

This song quotes the words of Jesus in that upper room on the night before His crucifixion… and sets the stage for the Lord’s Supper.
Bible Reference… Matthew 26:26-28; Luke 22:19,20; 1Corinthians 11:17-34

This is My body, given for you.
This is the cup that holds the blood of the new covenant.
This is forgiveness, simple and true.
This is the way that I have made for you.

        CHORUS:
Before you eat, before you drink…
take a long look inside and tell Me what you see.
He said, “Do this in remembrance of Me.”
Do this in remembrance of Me.

This is the bread of life, broken for you.
This is the cup that holds the wine of the new covenant.
This is the love of Christ, poured out anew.
This is the Son of God who died for you. (CHORUS)

        CODA:
I will remember the cross that You bore for me.
I will remember the crown that You wore for me.
I will remember the reason You suffered and died…
