This song was written by Sandy Knight, and has been recorded by many artists. Gold City took it to its highest success, but the version I most often listen to on my iPod is sung by the Easters… included on their album, My, Oh My!

Sandy Knight is a Southern Gospel singer and songwriter. She sang with the Roy Knight Singers. Her compositions have been recorded by many Southern Gospel artists through the years. She owns her own publishing company, Sandy Knight Music.

Jeff Easter and Sheri Williamson met in 1984 during the Albert E. Brumley Sundown to Sunup Gospel Sing in Arkansas. At the time, Jeff was the bassist for the Singing Americans, while Sheri was performing with The Lewis Family. They married 10 months later. Jeff and Sheri traveled and performed as part of The Lewis Family, until they decided to pursue a duo career in 1988. Since then, they have released several albums and have been nominated for various awards.

This song describes the Revelation John saw… and recorded… in the final book of the Bible.
Bible Reference… Revelation 21,22

       CHORUS:
John saw jasper walls; oh my, oh my, what a vision!
John told of shining streets of gold where all God’s saints shall forever stroll.
I’ve wondered time and again; how could it have been
to gaze upon that heavenly throne?
But, I’ll wonder no more when I step on that shore
to walk upon the golden ground that John saw.

John saw a land (I know I’ll share). He saw a river (flowing there).
John tell me more. John tell me more! John tell it all!
John saw a throne (so bright and fair); he saw the gate (with beauty rare).
Someday, I want to walk the Golden Ground that John saw. (CHORUS)

John heard a voice (from Heaven say), “I’ll brush the tears (all tears away)!”
John tell me more. John tell me more! John tell it all!
He said, “No death (shall enter there), no grief or pain (for us to bear)!”
Oh, how I long to walk the Golden Ground that John saw.

Just in the midst (of Paradise), John saw a tree (a Tree of Life).
John tell me more. John tell me more! John tell it all!
The sun and moon (no longer shine); the Lamb of God (shall be the Light)
forever shining on the Golden Ground that John saw. (CHORUS)
