This song was recorded by The Williams Brothers… included on their album, Live At The Hard Rock.

The Williams Brothers is an American traditional black gospel music group from Jackson, Mississippi. They were formed in 1960 by Leon “Pop” Williams, who was the Williams’ father, and early on the Williams’ brother Frank Douglas was a member. At its inception, the group consisted of 3 brothers, Doug Williams, Leonard Williams, Melvin Williams, and their cousin, Henry Green and a non-family member Maurice Surrell. Later on, the group added Derrick Horne, Maulty “Tuff” Jewell IV, Pharis “June Bug” Evans, Jr., Ralph Lofton, Jr., and Terrell Midge Gatlin. They released 42 albums with various labels during their tenure, and 23 albums charted on the Billboard charts, mostly on the Gospel Albums chart. They have been nominated for the Grammy Award in the Best Traditional Gospel Album category several different years. In 1999, the group was inducted into the International Gospel Music Hall of Fame, which is in Detroit, Michigan.

I can’t remember the first time I heard this song, but it’s got a great beat. And, once you hear it, it’s stuck in your head!

This song describes the refreshment God’s grace can be… as refreshing as cooling water on the hottest day.
Bible Reference… Jeremiah 31:25; Acts 3:19-21; Ephesians 2:8,9

My soul was sinking in a world of sin, but grace and mercy, it took me in;
took my feet out of the miry clay and placed them on a rock to stay.
Oh, what a relief it was when God rescued me!
He loosed the chains that had me bound, then He set me free!

        CHORUS:
        And it felt like cooling water… cooling water… cooling water.
        It felt like, cooling water… cooling water… cooling water;
        cooling water from grandma’s well.

Sleepless nights, in so much pain; couldn’t see no sunshine, nothing but rain.
But, God said, “Weeping may endure for a night, but in the morning it would be all right.”
Oh, what a relief it was when God rescued me!
He loosed my chains that had me bound, and then He set me free! (CHORUS)

        TAG:
        And I’m reminded of another water. And I’m reminded of another water.
        When they took me down in the water. When they took me down to a muddy pond
        to be baptized; took me down to be baptized.
        Let me tell you what happened to me; they baptized me in the name of the Father.
        Baptized me in the name of the Son. Baptized me in the name of the Holy Ghost.
        And they all, they all made one.
        And that ain’t all, ya’ll; when I came up out that water, I had a new walk.
        I just didn’t walk quite the same when I came up from that water.
        I had love in my heart when I came up out that water.
        I had joy all in my heart. Another thing, ya’ll, changed my mind.
        I couldn’t think that same way. Changed my heart.
        I had a different word to say; changed me, I didn’t want… didn’t want just to live.
        I wanted something that I could give. How about you today?

Praise God! Praise God for the water… for the water. (Repeat)
Anybody been dipped? (Repeat)

I wanna know, have you been dipped down in the water? In the water?
The Holy Ghost was in that water… in the water.
Deliverance was in that water… in the water.
Forgiveness was in that water.
