This song was written by Francesca Battistelli, David Garcia, and Benjamin Michael Glover. It was recorded by Francesca Battistelli… included on her album, If We’re Honest.

David Arthur Garcia (born January 18, 1983) is an American multi-genre music producer and songwriter. He has received 4 Grammy Awards, and has won 9 GMA Dove Awards, for his songwriting and record production production. He was honored with the ASCAP Christian songwriter on the year award in 2015. In 2017, he had his first #1 at country radio.
Benjamin Allen “Ben” Glover (born June 1, 1978) is a 2-time Grammy Award winning songwriter and producer hailing from Loveland, CO. Glover moved to Nashville, TN in 2000 after signing his first publishing deal the year prior.

Francesca Battistelli (born May 18, 1985) is an American Christian singer and songwriter from New York City. She grew up in a musical family with both of her parents involved in musical theatre.
When Francesca was 15, she became a member of the Orlando, Florida all-girl mainstream pop group, Bella. The group’s touring performances included singing and dancing, which were “two things I loved”, she said. After the group disbanded, Battistelli picked up the guitar and began writing songs. She has won several awards and, to date, has recorded 6 albums (including her first, independent album).

Battistelli’s music is influenced by several genres. One reviewer wrote that “Battistelli’s soulful piano-pop sound resembles a blend of her music interests—jazz, rock, gospel and R&B.” Battistelli stated that when she first began writing music, “I really longed to bring something authentic to the [Christian music] scene that even non-Christians could listen to.”
In 2009, Battistelli married percussionist Matthew Goodwin. They now have 3 sons and a daughter.

This song is a song of surrender, giving God permission to do with one’s life as He determines best.

They say You’re the King of everything… the One who taught the wind to sing…
the Source of the rhythm my heart keeps beating.
They say You can give the blind their sight… and You can bring the dead to life;
You can be the hope my soul’s been seekin’.

        REFRAIN:
I wanna tell You now that I believe it. I wanna tell You now that I believe it.
I do. That You can make me new, oh…
I’m an empty page. I’m an open book.

        CHORUS:
Write Your story on my heart; come on and make Your mark.
Author of my hope, Maker of the stars, let me be Your work of art.
Won’t You write Your story on my heart? Write Your story! Write Your story!
Come on and write Your story! Write Your story!
Won’t You write Your story on my heart?

My life, I know it’s never really been mine, so do with it whatever You like.
I don’t know what Your plan is, but I know it’s good, yeah. (REFRAIN & CHORUS)
        CODA:
I want my history to be Your legacy; go ahead and show this world
what You’ve done in me. And when the music fades, I want my life to say  (CHORUS)
